The Opportunity
Working closely with the Procurement Manager, you’ll take ownership of a portfolio of suppliers, ensuring the effective sourcing and delivery of goods and services to support operations. This is a hands-on role combining supplier management, cost control and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the sourcing of materials and services to meet operational requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring reliability and service levels are met
- Lead on pricing negotiations and commercial agreements to deliver value
- Monitor supplier performance, addressing any quality or delivery issues
- Oversee purchasing activity from order placement through to delivery
- Work closely with internal teams including production, finance and customer support
- Analyse spend and market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings
- Support stock management to balance availability with working capital
- Ensure all procurement activity aligns with company policies and compliance standards
- Previous experience in a procurement or purchasing role (ideally within a manufacturing or regulated environment)
- Strong negotiation skills with a commercial mindset
- Confident managing supplier relationships and driving performance
- Analytical approach with the ability to interpret data and identify improvements
- Experience using ERP or MRP systems
- CIPS qualified (or working towards) would be advantageous
- Understanding of supply chain processes and best practice
